The
Echoes of Lithuania Radio Program is the only Lithuanian radio program in
Western Pennsylvania. It is hosted by Dalia Yucius each
Sunday afternoon at 12:30 P.M. and can be heard on
WEDO - 810 AM on your radio. WEDO has a
fairly strong signal and can sometimes be heard within about a 100 mile radius
of Pittsburgh. Dalia has hosted the program for the last couple of years
after taking the reins over from her father, Vito Yucius. Vito hosted the
program for many years on a number of different Pittsburgh radio stations.
Dalia is occasionally assisted by her mother Lorraine, thus making it a true
family effort. The program is conducted in English, so you don't have to
understand the Lithuanian language in order to enjoy the program.
Each Sunday Dalia offers the latest news from Lithuania, announcements of events in the local Lithuanian community, and ethnic Lithuanian music. She occasionally has guests that speak about important ethnic events in the area or contribute to the cultural aspects of the program. When tuning in, you might even learn something about an important event in Lithuanian history or the history of certain Lithuanian traditions.
